But who is Tinker Bell? Tinker Bell who is also often referred to as Tinkerbell or simply as Tink is a fairy who originally appeared in “Peter and Wendy,” a play (1904) and novel (1911) authored by J.M. Barrie.

However, Tinkerbell did not become as popular as she is today until she appeared in Walt Disney’s animated production called “Peter Pan” which was released in 1953. Since then, Tink has made numerous appearances in a wide variety of books and other film productions.

Tinker Bell acquired her name because she was described by her original creator as a fairy who mends pots and kettles and she communicates by emitting sounds that resemble tinkling bells. And those sounds are understood only by those who are well versed in the language of fairies.

Tinker Bell looks gentle enough but she is known to go through extreme emotional bouts of anger, joy, etc. This characteristic is quite common among fairies who tend to be quite unpredictable little creatures possessing magical powers which they can transmit to humans by sprinkling them with pixie dust.
